Business Analysis

Almost any change project / programme starts with some form of analysis of the business  that would benefit from the change.  Business Analysis to us means more than just documenting requirements; it means really understanding the business context and likely impacts, and making sure that the stakeholders do too.

We’ve carried out Business Analysis in some form for just about all our clients, from putting together RFxs in system selection processes, through defining business process and technology changes required to adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, to analysing and suggesting improvements in event data processing.

Systems Analysis

As a consultancy operating in a highly technical field,  Systems Analysis comes naturally to us. We have spent most of our life as a company looking at how technology supports our clients, and at how to initiate, execute, and manage technical changes.

These can be green-field implementations for start-ups, migrations, upgrades, decommissionings, or anything in between. Our systems analysis extends to creating functional specifications, through configuration of applications, to the development and implementation of pre- / post- processors to enhance system performance.

Design

One of the most rewarding aspects of what we do is looking at a problem and trying to figure out the best way to fix it.

However we have also learned that every solution needs to take into account the circumstances in which it will be put in place and have to work, including(but not restricted to) the amount of time and resources available to implement it, the technical environment in which it will operate, and the technical and subject matter knowledge of the people who will work with it.

We like to think that this makes us highly pragmatic in the design work we do, whether it’s for our own products, for the development of in-house solutions, or for the implementation of third-party products.

Implementation

We’ve worked since our inception on implementation programmes and projects across the OSS/BSS layer.

From strategic planning for large-scale technology changes, through system selection, Programme / Project Management, infrastructure management, solution design and configuration, change control, cutover planning and management, to managing and executing post-implementation enhancements, we’ve worked with customers on every aspect of solution implementations.

Migration

Migrations are always challenging but, with the right approach, they can be completed successfully and without disruption to the entire business. We have the accumulated knowledge of many migrations and have applied this to the benefit of many of our customers.

We have an in–depth understanding of the complexities and critical success factors of such projects across all aspects of involvement from project management through data cleanse and ETL to testing. A particular strength is our comprehensive approach to verification testing to prove data accuracy and completeness following a migration.

Testing

One of Cartesian’s strengths is that every one of us spends time in testing early on in our career with the company. This helps us to think about the impact of what we do on testing throughout any engagement.

Cartesian has developed a testing methodology based on risk and impact, which we adapt to the circumstances of any testing assignment. We engage our testing resources with the planning and analysis functions as early as possible in any project so that the test strategy is as closely aligned with the project objectives as possible. We have provided individual SMEs to support test efforts as well as whole testing teams, based on-site or within our offices as appropriate.
